Are you looking for things to do in Anthem, Arizona? In today’s video and blog post I’ll be sharing fun, low (or no) cost activities for your family without having to leave Anthem this winter. Let’s go!
Hey everyone, it’s Lindsay, I’m a REALTOR® with the Wise Move AZ Team, right here in Anthem, Arizona. Well, it’s official, winter is upon us! While many parts of the country are struggling with snow and freezing temperatures, we are so fortunate here in Arizona because winter is a prime time for us to get outside and enjoy ourselves without worrying about the heat!
As your Anthem, Arizona REALTOR® I’m often asked by newcomers or people visiting the area what they can do here in Anthem. In today’s post I’m going to recommend 5 low or no cost family friendly activities, perfect for the cooler winter months, without having to leave the community, so stick around.
#1: Spend the Day at the Anthem Community Park:
Pack a picnic lunch and head to the park. While you’re there you can take a ride on the Daisy Mountain Railroad or spend some time at the Catch-and-Release fishing ponds. You’ll want to check the schedule for the train before heading out. Remember only barbless hooks are permitted in the fishing ponds.
#2: Hike Daisy Mountain:
This might be my favorite Anthem activity of all time. We are so fortunate to have a challenging hike with spectacular views, right here in our community. If you do the whole hike it is about 7 miles, with a nearly 1,400 foot elevation gain, but you can always do little bits of it, if you’re not up for the whole thing. Please note that this isn’t a stroller or wheelchair friendly hike, and you’ll need to bring lots of water, good hiking shoes, and stay alert for snakes. If you stick around until the end of this post you’ll receive access to our brand new hiking guide!
#3: Head to the Community Center to play Tennis or Basketball:
Grab your racket and head to the community center! Spending the afternoon outside working on your tennis skills is a great way to spend time together as a family and burn off some of the kids energy…and maybe some of those extra calories from all the holiday parties!
#4: Take a Free Class at the Library:
Alright, up until now we’ve been recommending some very ACTIVE activities. If you’re looking for a quiet family afternoon, why not head to the library? We are so lucky to have such an amazing branch of the Maricopa County Library, right here in Anthem, and what’s even better is that they host a TON of free family friendly events. I’ve been on their email list for ages and every week they send out a list of activities that are open to the public. On their website you can sign up to receive their emails OR you can take a look at their community events calendar at any time.
#5: Last but not least, support some local businesses:
We have some really awesome local businesses here in Anthem. Grabbing a hot chocolate at Amped Coffee, is a great way to unwind and spend some quality time after a busy afternoon, for example.
Now I want to hear from you! Head down to the comments section below and tell me what your favorite winter activity is, here in Anthem.
