Guess what, the Anthem Arizona Dog Park is officially open and we can’t wait to show you around!
Anthem is famous for its amenities and this new dog park has been much awaited and much debated. By the end of this post you’ll know exactly where to find the Anthem Dog Park, how to register your pups, and what to expect when you get there.
If this is your first time here, welcome! My name is Lindsay and I‘m a proud Anthem resident and your local REALTOR® with the Wise Move AZ Team at Realty ONE Group. On our YouTube Channel and blog we have a lot of fun talking about all things Anthem and real estate, and we would love to have you along for the ride.
Anthem’s Amenities
We work with a lot of families relocating to Anthem from out of state, and we know with absolute certainty that fur-babies can factor into the decision of where to live as heavily as the humans in the family. And let’s be honest, if you have a dog, you’re probably just as interested in checking out the dog park as you are about checking out the rest of the amenities.
It’s no secret that there are some BIG pluses to living in Anthem. For me the biggest ones are the people, the views, the prices, and the amenities; and it’s not just that Anthem has a lot of amenities, which it does, it’s also that they’re always expanding and improving on them.
The Dog Park was a brand new addition to the collection of amenities in Anthem, and it officially opened on November 16, 2019.
Dog Park Features
Let’s start by taking a look at all the features of the dog park and then we will get into how you can register your pups.
Location
The Anthem Dog Park is located near the intersection of Meridian Drive and North Iron Horse Way. If you’re on Daisy Mountain Drive, head east on Meridian Drive, pass Merrill Gardens and the dog park will be on your right. It’s pretty tough to miss.
Parking
When you arrive at the dog park, you can park your vehicle free of charge in the lot.
Access
As a member of the dog park you will receive an access FOB and your dog will receive a collar tag. You must bring the FOB with you and the collar tag on your dog must be visible at all times. You’ll scan your FOB to open the main entry gate. This will take you into the corridor between the four quadrants of the dog park.
Usage & Safety
At any given time, two of the quadrants are open and the other two are resting. The Anthem Community Council put a lot of thought and planning into building a sustainable and healthy dog park for our community. Not only does this rest period allow the grass to grow, but it was also designed with the health and safety of your dog (and you) in mind. The sophisticated underground drainage system reduces the risk of spreading germs.
The two open quadrants are labeled as ‘Active’ and ‘Passive’. It’s up to the owner to determine which area is better suited to the personality and needs of their pup. If your dog is high energy and wants to play, head over to the active area. If your dog is more guarded and would prefer to take it easy, head into the passive section.
You’ll notice that each quadrant has a double entry and exit system. Please read and follow the rules when entering and exiting. It’s important for the safety of everyone that you let one door close before opening the next.
Features
Throughout the park you will find:
- Benches with shade canopies
- Trash cans
- Hand sanitizer
- Dog waste stations with bags
- Water fountains for people, and more importantly water fountains for dogs
- Lights that illuminate the park when it’s dark
- Lastly, and this might be the coolest feature, there is a paw-washing station. Note: This is for a quick rinse before heading home, it’s not your new spot for bathing and grooming!
In addition to all of these awesome features, the dog park also has beautiful views of the mountains and our incredible Arizona sunsets.
What features do you think are most important for a dog park? Let me know in the comments.
Hours
The Anthem Dog Park is open from 5:30AM-9:45PM in May to August, and 6:00AM-9:45PM in September to April. That being said, the dog park is closed on Wednesdays until noon for maintenance.
Membership
So this all sounds pretty awesome, right? How do you become a member?
The dog park is restricted to members only. Members must be residents of Anthem and have a current Anthem Community Center membership in good standing.
Application
You will need to do the following:
- Read the Membership Guidelines
- Fill out the Membership Application
- Sign the Waiver and Release Form
- Schedule an appointment with the Community Center Membership Office
You must bring your Maricopa County dog license certificate and rabies vaccination paperwork for each dog being registered. You also need to bring the completed application to your membership appointment.
Here is a link to the package put together by the Anthem Community Council. This package has all the forms you need and has answers to any questions you may have.
It is really well done and has way more information than I could possibly convey in this blog post. So, when we’re done here, click the link and get to work.
Cost
The total price of the annual membership is less than a dollar per week at $50 per year and will includes two access fobs. That’s the one for the human, and tags for up to two dogs. Additional dogs cost $10 per year, up to a maximum of four dogs.
So, there you have it! What do you think? Are you ready to get you and your pups signed up as the newest members of the Anthem Dog Park?
Also, if you’re considering a move to Anthem you’ll want to watch this video with an Anthem real estate market update or this video that showcases the Anthem Community Park. It’s gorgeous!
Enjoy those and I’ll see YOU next Thursday!
